The Sitting Lamp is not one for erm... Sitting around.

Okay so, I am really proud of Graeme. His clever design is getting loads of attention, from really cool people. This month you would see his design in Migrate magazine. He has also launched his own Facebook FAN page. Please do go give it some love. Graeme is generally not very good at online things, and he is really so proud of it.

The Sitting Lamp is also now stocked by 5Rooms, which is a really big deal. They are a super nice, international online store that has just touched ground in South Africa. Very exciting. All of it. We can't keep up, but we love it.

Timeless Toys -Beautiful, classic toys for children

You do not understand how awesome these people are. The toys are all just so... Innocent. You know? Most of it is the stuff we played with as kids. Beautifully crafted wooden things, paper things... Crafts, marble runs, jack-in-the boxes, wagons, puppets. They have little theatres, tee-pee tents, bicycles with those tassels on the side and bells and baskets. Build-it-yourself airplanes, star-charts... Man they have everything.

I love classic things. Timeless things. My kids do NOT own anything Ben Ten, Pokemon etc because they are just not exposed to it. They love Noddy and Tom and Jerry and those things, you know? Charlie and Lola. Good, wholesome kids things. Okay so Tom and Jerry are maybe not always that wholesome, but you get what I'm saying.

I got the most beautiful toys for them today, and things that are just pure GENIUS. I mean, a latch-board? I want to meet the person that came up with that and give them my best curtsy. Sincerely. I left the house an hour ago and I will put money on the fact that the boys are still playing with it. The next step would be to add wooden padlocks and keys (also available via Timeless Toys under the Party-Pack section).

If you do not live in Cape Town, DO NOT WORRY. Obviously they have an online store. Obviously I have already got my next order ready. I am totally getting the wooden "Where Do I Live" memory game AND the "Mix and Match People Box". Sad face from my credit card.

I was getting a bit worried about winter, about the boys being cooped up indoors too much, that they would get super bored. However, these toys are about to stimulate the socks off of them. In a good way. I got them another big little something, but I promised Graeme that I would not let the boys at it until he got home. He so badly wants to see their faces. It's going to be a goodie.

Place your orders at www.timelesstoys.co.za. You're welcome.

Things I've got my keen eyes on.

Happy EIGHTEEN months Benjamin

Eighteen months is a big milestone in the greater scheme of things. Babies develop at different speeds, but at eighteen months, they should all be on the same page with certain things. Like, if your baby is eighteen months and still not let's say crawling... I don't know. I hate talking about these things as I know that there are children out there that have perhaps missed these milestones and I don't like to think about that. My heart is just too cowardly to think in that direction.

I'm so grateful to have a healthy, bright, beautiful child. He is right on schedule in terms of development and I am delighted that right now:  Benjamin is perfectly and beautifully average.

I've listed where a baby should typically be at eighteen months, just to show where this little guy is right now. I know that a great deal of my readers do not have children. A lot of people (male and female alike) read this blog out of curiosity -to look in on a life with children.

Isn't it strange that only now my son can identify certain parts of his body? That he can now start using those muscles to hold in a wee-wee? Those that we use daily. He can now feed himself, build blocks and page through a book. Something that he was not able to do a few months ago. I cannot explain the pure joy I feel when I see my boys learn the small things, like the difference between the hot water tap, and the cold water tap in the bath. He knows which one to turn when his water gets cold and to me that is pure genius.

It's like... Your baby is born and you have no expectations of them. They can't do, say or understand much. They cannot do a single thing for themselves, not even hold a dummy or scratch an itch. So every single thing that they start doing is beyond their abilities. You know? It's such a treat to watch. I'm absolutely honored to be a part of it, to be a mother, to guide and protect them. To clear the path for them to grow, to encourage and support and nurture. It is SUCH a big deal, it really is. Benjamin is becoming his own person right in front of me.

Noah has really loved being part of the experience. From day one, Noah has been helping with nappy changes, peeking over the cot, sitting with us while Benjamin fed -just staring. He has been amused by his brother, he has enjoyed helping and interacting. His excitement when the rabbit started walking was probably greater than ours. When his little brother could finally play, and run and hide and chase. When his little brother could say his name, could call him, showed preference, hugged him, kissed him. Oh those boys make my soul bleed with happiness. They spend hours jumping off the coffee table. Benjamin stands on it and does this little dance... He claps and moves his hips and says "wiggle wiggle" (wiggle is Nu's nickname) which makes Noah's face practically do cartwheels.  Isn't it strange to think that Noah knew who Ben was, and could say his name from day one. It has taken the rabbit over a year and half to return the favor. To be able to say "Hello Noah" to his brother? Isn't that special?

Happy eighteen months Benjamin. We are ALL so blessed to know you. What an incredible, happy and kind child you are.

Cool things to print and questionable work ethics.

Winter is here. I look outside and it is raining and miserable. Sincerely. I am seriously wondering how we are all going to survive this rainy Cape Town winter.

Then I found this super cool free kids' printables site called Mr Printables. I have found games, flash cards, coloring pages and puzzles. I looooove the monster emotion cards. I LOVE the alphabet flash cards and I really really love the memory games.

It's all free! And so PRETTY. Time to abuse that office printer folks. It has to be done. Nobody is judging.

Wanting another baby. Part two.

Well, seeing as we can't get a cat, I am right back to wanting another baby. Bet those allergex tablets are looking a lot more attractive to certain people with certain allergies, right?

In all seriousness, I really want to have another child. A while back I said to Graeme "I dreamed we had another baby. She was beautiful!" to which he replied "Well everything's beautiful if you live in a caravan." Fair enough. Children cost monies whichever way you look at it. I would just really really love for Noah and Benjamin to have a little sister. I always said I would have either one, two or FOUR children. Never three. It's a thing.

Maybe I should stop looking at all these beautiful blogs written by pregnant ladies, filled with pictures of their daughters. I should, right? I can't though.

Also, what if I have another boy? Yes they're awesome, but I will not end up looking like these bloggers all poised and beautiful. I will look like Lois from Malcolm in The Middle. What would I do with three boys? What if  I have twins and have foooooooooour boys. Good gosh. I already live with three males and I am pretty convinced that Chicken (the hamster) is a boy too. I could really do with some female company.

Man I can already see Noah being all gentle with his little sister, tying her shoelaces for her, feeding her her mashed butternut and making airplane noises, decapitating her barbies, all of that. So here are more pictures of beautiful daughters by beautiful mothers as per Bleubird Vintage and Rockstar Diaries

Sigh.

Our lives lately, according to Instagram!

Clay Cafe and more rabbits for my house.

On Mother's Day I attended an event at Clay Cafe, Hout Bay. A few other bloggers joined in and yesterday I went to fetch the bunny egg-cups/holders that I painted. They are TOO beautiful. I can't wait to go back and paint even more pretty things for the house. How cool?
